• Information you enter into your case profile

• Chat and analysis usage counts
• Features accessed
• Session and login data

Payment Information

• Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe
• ClearStand does not store credit card or banking information

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and operate the ClearStand platform
• Process your subscription and payments
• Send account-related communications including your welcome email and billing notifications
• Personalize your experience within the platform
• Improve and develop ClearStand features
• Comply with applicable legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your information for advertising purposes.

Documents You Upload

Documents you upload for analysis (such as Crown disclosure packages or family law documents) are processed in memory to generate your analysis. ClearStand does not permanently store uploaded documents on our servers after processing is complete.

Uploaded documents are transmitted securely to Anthropic's API for AI processing. Anthropic's privacy practices govern how those transmissions are handled. Anthropic does not use your uploaded content to train AI models.

Information Sharing

We share your information only with the following service providers as necessary to operate ClearStand:

• Anthropic — AI processing of your chat messages and uploaded documents
• Stripe — Payment processing and subscription management
• Resend — Transactional email delivery
• Railway — Cloud hosting and infrastructure

We do not share your information with law firms, courts, government agencies, or any other parties except as required by law.

Data Security

ClearStand implements industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

• All data transmitted to and from ClearStand is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
• Passwords are encrypted using bcrypt hashing — we cannot retrieve your password
• Authentication uses JSON Web Tokens (JWT) with secure expiry
• Payment information is handled entirely by Stripe and subject to PCI DSS compliance

No security system is impenetrable. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable Canadian law.

Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, your personal information will be deleted within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Case profile information stored locally in your browser is controlled entirely by you and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings.

Your Rights Under PIPEDA

As a Canadian resident, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Withdraw consent to collection and use of your information (which may affect your ability to use ClearStand)
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada

Cookies

ClearStand uses minimal browser storage to maintain your login session and save your case profile locally. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies.

Children's Privacy

ClearStand is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, contact us immediately at privacy@clearstand.ca.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. Continued use of ClearStand following notice of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
