These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of ClearStand, operated by Taylor Hamilton ("ClearStand", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using ClearStand, you agree to these terms.
Not Legal Advice
ClearStand is a legal document preparation and research tool. It does not provide legal advice, does not create a lawyer-client relationship, and is not a substitute for licensed legal counsel. For complex legal matters, please consult a qualified lawyer. Legal Aid Ontario: 1-800-668-8258.
Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must not share your account with others or allow others to access the service through your account. You must be 18 years of age or older to create an account.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at support@clearstand.ca if you suspect unauthorized access.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use ClearStand for any unlawful purpose
- Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information
- Attempt to circumvent, reverse-engineer, or interfere with any security measure
- Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access or scrape the service
- Share, resell, or redistribute access to ClearStand without written permission
- Use the service in a manner that could damage or overburden our infrastructure
Fair Use Policy
Unlimited plans are subject to fair use limits designed to prevent automated abuse and ensure service quality for all users. ClearStand reserves the right to throttle or suspend accounts that display usage patterns inconsistent with individual personal use.
Users whose accounts are suspended for abuse will be notified at their registered email address and given an opportunity to respond before any permanent action is taken.
Payments and Subscriptions
Subscription fees are billed in Canadian dollars. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis. You may cancel at any time from your Account page. Upon cancellation, you retain access until the end of your current billing period.
Refunds are not provided for partial subscription periods. ClearSplit purchases are non-refundable after access codes have been issued.
We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice to registered users.
Intellectual Property
ClearStand and its content, features, and functionality are owned by Taylor Hamilton and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without written permission.
Documents you create using ClearStand are yours. We claim no ownership over your content.
Privacy
Your use of ClearStand is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
Security
ClearStand implements industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information including encryption in transit, secure authentication, and regular security monitoring.
In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, ClearStand will notify you at your registered email address in accordance with our obligations under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
ClearStand cannot guarantee absolute security of data transmitted over the internet. Users transmit data at their own risk. ClearStand is not liable for any unauthorized access to personal information beyond our reasonable control.

Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
ClearStand is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any document produced is legally valid or appropriate for your specific situation.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ClearStand shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data or legal outcomes arising from reliance on documents or analysis produced by the service.
Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time from Account Settings. Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario.
Changes to These Terms
We will notify registered users by email of material changes to these Terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
